Actors in Plus Heart Not Plus Size

In our third year of partnership with Bronxdale High School, resident teaching artist Patrick Crowley worked with several classroom teachers to bring arts integration exercises into ELA, Social Studies classes and advisories and ran a weekly after school drama club. Starting in February the Drama Club focused on Theatre of the Oppressed techniques including Image Theatre and Forum Theatre. The students created an original Forum Play, Plus Heart not Plus Size which was presented in Bronxdale advisory classes. The play explored body image issues, peer pressure, cyber bullying, and young people fighting for their dreams even if they have less than supportive adults around them.
